We've often wondered why Google has chosen to use Google.LA for Laos when this space is clearly being marketed and used for the LA Metropolitan Area. One thought that came to our mind is the concern of city TLDs becoming the mainstream and with it a redirection of ad dollars going to city coffers. Well, that thought has become a step closer to reality with .nyc. According to Connecting.NYC, this very idea is being considered via search.nyc. Given Google's attempt to create confusion in the .LA space, we wish .nyc and other city TLDs all the best in redirecting search dollars to their city coffers.
